Gas Line Repair & Installation in Montclair, NJ

Gas line work is not where you want to take chances or hire the cheapest bidder. We are licensed for both plumbing and HVACR in New Jersey, and we handle gas line repairs, modifications, and new runs across Essex County.

Gas line work we handle

Gas line work shows up in a lot of common home projects: replacing a water heater, swapping an electric stove for a gas range, adding a gas dryer, running a line to a new fireplace insert, extending a line to a backyard grill or generator, or rerouting a line during a renovation. It also shows up after the fact when an older line starts to corrode, a connection loosens, or a leak gets sniffed out by the gas company.

Whatever the reason for the work, every gas line job in New Jersey requires a licensed contractor who knows the code. That is us. We are licensed for plumbing (#36BI00984200) and HVACR (#19HC00945900), which means we can handle the gas, the venting, and the connected appliance under one license.

Common gas line projects:

  • Repairing leaks identified by the utility or detected at home
  • Running new lines for stoves, dryers, and water heaters
  • Extending lines for outdoor grills, fire pits, or generators
  • Rerouting lines during basement finishes and additions
  • Capping and removing unused lines safely
  • Sizing upgrades to support tankless water heaters or new appliances

Why gas line work needs a licensed pro

Gas leaks are not subtle when they go wrong. A line that was sized incorrectly, joined improperly, or pressure-tested poorly can create a real safety problem. New Jersey requires licensing for this work for that reason. When you hire someone unlicensed because the price is lower, you are also taking on the risk that the work is not up to code, that the insurance does not cover anything that goes wrong, and that the next time someone touches the system they are going to have to redo what was done.

We do not have a margin for error on gas. Every connection gets pressure-tested. Every modification gets the appropriate permit where required. Every appliance gets verified for proper combustion and venting before we leave.

When to call us about a gas line

If you smell gas, leave the house first and call PSE&G or your gas utility. That is non-negotiable. Once the utility has handled the immediate safety issue, that is when we come in to do the actual repair work. Outside of that, the most common reasons homeowners call us for gas line work are appliance changes — adding or removing a gas appliance, replacing a water heater, or running a new line to support a renovation.
